Changes to the Furlough Scheme and Parents Returning from Statutory Leave

The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) has been extended until October, with new flexibilities introduced from 1 July to support the economy by allowing furloughed employees to return to work part-time.  Also changes for employees returning from statutory maternity and paternity leave. To enable the introduction of part-time furloughing, and support those already furloughed back to work, claims from July onwards will be restricted to employers currently using the scheme and previously furloughed employees.

The Government has extended the furlough scheme by four months, until the end of October 2020.  There will be no changes to the scheme until 31 July.  From August the scheme may change to allow furloughed employees to be brought back part-time to assist employers to build their businesses back up.  (more…)
